Official: 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR - BBC Top Gear

Official: 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR - BBC Top Gear

This is the 911 GT3 RSR: a 455bhp race-developed GT car set to battle in 2011's motorsport season.
The new RSR gets 5bhp more than its predecessor from a 4.0-litre flat-six boxer engine revving to an almighty 9,400rpm. That six-banger is mated to a six-speed sequential box, housed in a monocoque body based on the GT3 RS, weighing 1,220kg.
You get four-way gas pressure dampers front and back, double coil springs and an ‘infinitely adjustable' suspension setup. Brakes come courtesy of six and four-piston callipers and 380mm front and 355mm rear diameter discs.
And this version of "the world's most successful GT race car" will set you back just £346,000 plus VAT. Though, you might wanna' take some racing lessons first before you sell that kidney...

DODGE VIPER...2010. 0-60 IN 4 SECS.....CLASSIC

The Dodge Viper is a V10-powered sports car made by the Dodge division of Chrysler. Production of the two seat sports car began at New Mack Assembly in 1991 and moved to its current home at Conner Avenue Assembly in October 1995. The car, and numerous variations, has made many appearances in TV shows, video games, movies, and music videos. The replacement for the fourth generation Dodge Viper formed the basis for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Although Chrysler considered ending production because of financial problems, chief executive Sergio Marchionne announced and showed on September 14, 2010 a redesign of the Viper for 2012        www.dodgeviper.com

Koenigsegg..Classic

The Koenigsegg CCX is the world's fastest car with a V8 engine, and has consistently won awards from various institutions all over the world, not only for its design and ability to operate at high speeds, but also for the ability of the people at Koenigsegg CCX to keep reinventing their product in a way that helps other philanthropic organizations. The Koenigsegg CCX is a great supercar to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the CX, while still being a great car independent of any others.Koenigsegg

Porsche Carrera GT...Certified Classic

Beautiful Design and Engineering, and 605 Horsepower
The Porsche Carrera GT, which was introduced as a 2004 model, is a low, sleek, lightweight roadster that is as beautiful to the engineer as it is to the eye. Foul weather protection is also available in the form of two removable panels that can be stored in the front trunk.

Among the car's unique features are its 5.7-liter, 605-horsepower V10 engine, its monocoque chassis with Porsche-patented engine and transmission mounts made of carbon-reinforced plastic and the first use of a ceramic composite clutch in a production car. The Carrera GT's aerodynamic and race-bred suspension package provides safe and stable travel at speeds of up to 205 mph (330 km/h). The Carrera GT features the extensive use of lightweight materials, such as magnesium for the car's substantial wheels and the frames of its special sport seats.

The result of such artistic and athletic equipment is a car that accelerates from a standing start to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 3.9 seconds, reaches 100 mph (160 km/h) in less than seven seconds, 125 mph (200 km/h) in less than 10 seconds, and can achieve a top test-track speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

Pagani Zonda.....Classic

Horacio Pagani has had a surprising life. His passion for cars, speed and design emerged very early and, at the age of 12, he amazed everyone with models of supercars carved from wood or modelled in clay.

He made his debut into the world of racing cars when he was 20, designing an F.3 that competed in Argentina under the colours of the official Renault team. Then came an enormous number of industrial design projects in which he had an accelerated apprenticeship, combining a mixture of creativity and a maniacal search for perfection.

F1 MCLAREN CLASSIC

http://jalopnik.com/327268/mclaren-f1
Like most important ideas, the McLaren F1 was conceived on the back of a napkin. While waiting for a plane, designer and chief engineer Gordon Murray proposed the idea of building the very best, ultimate, super duper driver's car ever to McLaren's CEO Ron Dennis. Ron bit. The idea wasn't new or earth shaking: stick lots of power into a light vehicle to give (horribly wealthy) enthusiasts the ride of a lifetime. Carroll Shelby had been doing exactly that for years. However, what did make the turf move was the execution that is best described as flawless. No, better than flawless. The F1 is supercar 2.0.

RANGE ROVER SPORT........

http://robson.m3rlin.org/cars/range-rover-sport-arden/

The top-level Sport is powered by a supercharged 390 PS (287 kW/410 hp) 4.2 L AJ-V8, making it the second most powerful vehicle in the company’s history except for the larger Range Rover Vogue SE supercharged (450BHP, 420lb/ft). A normally-aspirated 4.4 L version is available with 300 PS (220 kW/295 hp). The TDV6 turbodiesel engine of 190 horsepower is available outside the North American market. All models have six-speed automatic transmissions and fuel capacities of about 88 liters. The vehicles are 4.788 meters long, 2.170 meters wide (including the side mirrors), and about 1.8 tall. The Premier Automotive Group claims the Range Rover Sport can wade 70 cm/27.6 in. of water.
The Range Rover Sport made the Premier Automotive Group the target of a protest by Greenpeace in 2005. The protesters infiltrated an assembly facility and temporarily delayed production of the vehicle. Greenpeace quoted issue with contributions to greenhouse gas emissions, and by extension, global warming, that would result from the vehicle’s (relatively inefficient) combustion of hydrocarbons. A test performed in late 2005 using a Range Rover Sport with only 1 gallon of fuel in the tank resulted in the car covering barely 8 miles (roughly 30L/100km) before running out of gas and spluttering to a halt. The EPA estimates for the car are 14 city/19 highway, and a combined total of 16 mpg. (Although it must be noted that this test was carried out on the Supercharged version of the car, and was conducted on a racing track. Under these circumstances, the cars MPG would have been lower than it would have normally achieved when in use on normal roads.)

BMW 7 Series...Redesigned..Classic Style

www.bmw.com

Last year’s 7-series redesign brought less-controversial styling, improved ergonomics, and a vastly more intuitive iDrive system. Oh, and it’s still great to drive. Choose from a pair of twin-turbo engines; a performance-oriented all-wheel-drive system is optional on V-8 cars.

AUDI..R8 CLASSIC CONTROL

The Audi R8[3] (Typ 42)[5] is a sports car with a longitudinally mounted mid-engine,[3][6] and uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent four-wheel drive system.[3][7] It was introduced by the German automaker Audi AG in 2006.
The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is similar to the Lamborghini Gallardo.[8] The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame,[3] and uses an aluminium monocoque which is built around space frame principles. The car is built by quattro GmbH in a newly renovated factory at Audi's 'aluminium site' at Neckarsulm in Germany.[3]
In 2005, Audi announced that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, appearing at the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show, and 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The R8 road car was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There was some confusion with the name, which the car shares with the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning R8 Le Mans Prototype (LMP). 6-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx described the R8 as "the best handling road car today".[9]
The Audi R8 is used as a safety car in Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and British Superbike Championship racing series.

ASTON MARTIN V12 CLASSIC

Driving on the damp test area took a lot of concentration

I got my myself installed into the carbon fibre and Kevlar driving seat, started the engine, gave the throttle a good poke and was rewarded with an instant maelstrom of perfect sound. One of the finest noises in the automotive world just got better.

Accelerating hard through the manual gears on the damp test area took a lot of concentration. This is the same 6-litre V12 and drivetrain that you’d find in the DBS but in this shorter wheelbase, lighter car the power is transmitted to the road in a very different way. www.astonmartin.com

The suspension is lower and stiffer than that in the V8 Vantage and the car itself is slightly heavier but it actually handles better; if there was any body-roll, the car didn‘t tell me about it.
www.astonmartin.com
I found a long section of semi-dry tarmac and gave it a lot of throttle - acceleration was devastatingly quick. There’s a crest and a long right-hander at the end of a fast straight. Gearing down from fourth to third, testing the throttle briefly to make sure the tail doesn’t overtake, I plant my right foot again - instant power and a little correction as the rear finds grip.

CLASSIC WEALTH..................

The rich get richer. Not only because they have surpluses with which to invest, but because of the overriding emotional release they experience from having wealth.

DUNN'S RIVER FALL...CLASSIC VISITS

Dunn's River Falls is one of Jamaica's
national treasures. Globally, it is as well
known as reggae and equally stimulating.
There are few places where the Arawak
name "Xayamaca" - land of rivers and
springs - is more apt. The Spaniards called
the area "Las Chorreras", the waterfalls or
springs and it is truly one of the most beautiful spots on the island.

A stone's throw from Ocho Rios, one of Jamaica's fastest growing resort centres, Dunn's River Falls is unique. Described as a living and growing phenomenon, it continuously regenerates itself from deposits of travertine rock, the result of precipitation of calcium carbonate from the river, as it flows over the falls. The small dome-shaped cataracts are usually associated with thermal spring activity found in limestone caves. This, combined with its location near to the sea, gives Dunn's River the distinction of being the only one of its kind in the Caribbean, if not the world.

ASTON MARTIN ONE-77 THE ULTIMATE CLASSIC

Aston Martin Project One-77 The reports that said the Aston Martin's forthcoming One-77 supercar has been sold out proved false. This was due to the fact that more than a hundred customers showed interest on the car which only had a limited 77 production models available. However, not all of those interested committed to purchasing the supercar by paying cash deposits on the car. A reliable source inside Aston Martin has said that the order for the supercar is still much open for those who are willing enough to shell out the ¬£200,000 deposit required to get a spot on the production lineup. The Aston Martin comes with a 7.0 liter powerplant that can generate 700 hp (522 kW) and at least one of these special supercar will be a right-hand drive version.

The Liebherr Group...Dump Truck Classics

The Liebherr Group is a German manufacturing complex established in 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The Liebherr Group's holding company is Liebherr-International AG in Bulle, Switzerland, which is entirely owned by members of the Liebherr family. Current-generation family ownership is held by Willi and Isolde Liebherr, who are listed among the billionaires of 2005.
Beginning with the production of affordable tower cranes, Liebherr has expanded to aircraft parts and household appliances such as refrigerators. The company is a major supplier of aircraft parts to Airbus S.A.S. Liebherr also produces some of the largest mining and digging tools in the world, such as loaders, excavators and extreme-size dump trucks.
Over the years, the family business has grown into what is today a group of companies, employing a workforce of approximately 25,000 in more than 100 companies in several countries.
In December 2004, one German site put Liebherr's dumpers in first and sixth place as the world's biggest, while their largest excavator got fifth position.
Liebherr currently produces one of the world's largest mining trucks, the T 282 B. It also recently introduced the new nine-axle model LTM 11200-9.1 which received the prestigious award of Development of the Year (2007), for being the world's most powerful mobile crane, with a 100 metres (328 ft) telescopic boom.
Liebherr has locations in many countries, including Germany, Britain, Ireland, and the United States. The factory in Killarney, Ireland manufactures container cranes, which are exported worldwide through the local port of Fenit.

BMW M5...A Classic Story

The BMW M5 is a high performance version of the BMW 5-Series executive car built by the Motorsport division of BMW. First introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1984, the first incarnation of the M5 was hand-built utilizing the 535i chassis and a modified BMW M1 engine, being the fastest production sedan in the world at the time of its introduction.[1] Subsequent iterations of the M5 have been built from each generation of the 5-Series platform, including the E34, E39 and most recently the E60/E61. The next generation of the M5 is expected in 2011 and will be based on the BMW F10.
Due to the longevity of its nameplate and undisputed position at the top of BMW's midsize lineup, the M5 remains one of the best known sport sedans, despite competition from Mercedes-AMG and Audi quattro GmbH. Mercedes-Benz's direct competition were several incarnations of the E-Class; the E60 AMG, E55 AMG, and currently the E63 AMG. The Audi S6 was the marque's highest performing executive car in North America, as the top-of-the-line Audi RS6 was only offered in Europe.

Residents enjoy the estate’s self sufficiency with two standby generators, rainwater tanks holding 360,000 gallons, stainless steel electric shutters, a reverse osmosis plant, 4 septic tanks, a new break water, and a strong sea wall. The Rising Sun...

It's 756 feet long on each side, 450 feet high and is composed of 2,300,000 blocks of stone, each averaging 2 1/2 tons in weight. Despite the makers' limited surveying tools, no side is more than 8 inches different in length than another, and the whole structure is perfectly oriented to the points of the compass. Even in the 19th century, it was the tallest building in the world and, at the age of 4,500 years, it is the only one of the famous "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World" that still stands. Even today it remains the most massive building on Earth. It is the Great Pyramid of Khufu, at Giza, Egypt.

Harry Winston’s Opus III Arrives, Finally

When it was first unveiled in 2003, Harry Winston’s third Opus project was a triumph. The bizarre brainchild of Vianney Halter with its six-porthole digital display was like no timepiece ever seen. The triumph, however, soon turned into a black eye as prototypes of the design stubbornly refused to function. Seven years later, Harry Winston is finally delivering a working edition of the watch, with only minor modifications to its original function, and at its original price of $80,000. The seven years of work is a testament not only to the doggedness of Harry Winston, but to the enduring value of the design, which in retrospect, did much to launch the exotic super watch as its own category in watchmaking. Harry Winston’s original list of clients for Opus III seems to recognize it as well. Not one, according to the company, has ever demanded a refund on his or her deposit. Ferrari Scaglietti 612

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti specs
Top Speed: 196 mph / 315 km/h
0-60 mph: 4.2 seconds
0-100 mph: 10.2 seconds
0 - 1/4 Mile: 12.3 sec.
Engine: V-12 540 HP
A dream sports car that offers just about the perfect combination of speed, luxury and safety, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is setting roads on fire. With a 2+2 seating arrangement, this large two door coupe was designed to replace the much smaller Ferrari 456M sports car. Its gleaming all-aluminum body stretches 4.9 meters and has ample space in the rear seats to accommodate adults.
Named after one of Ferrari's legendary coachbuilder, Sergio Scaglietti, supercar Ferrari 612 Scaglietti's styling is setting standards for others to emulate. The leather trim comes in the same color as hat of the seats. What is more it extends all the way to the headlining and also to the side panels. The elegant cockpit with its modern dashboard design is sure to set the pulse racing. The cockpit of this sports car can in fact be personalized further thanks to the Carrozzeria Scaglietti program.
The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti sports car allows for easy entry for the passengers in the rear seat thanks to its longer wheelbase. The sinfully luxurious cabin can accommodate four people in total comfort. Driver comfort has been taken care off in a never before manner. With fascia-mounted controls and an ergonomically designed instrument panel, every minute aspect has been taken care off, in true Ferrari tradition. This sports car has a truly large luggage compartment, all of 240 liters. You can easily place two full sets of your favorite golf clubs in the luggage compartment.
With a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti you can literally never get lost, courtesy the satellite navigation system. The sports car also comes with the latest MP3 player which allows you to store and play up to 4GB of your choicest music, while you take it out for a spin. The instrumental panel is every driver's delight. Whether it is long drives that you prefer or a short ride to your work place, this sports car is designed to perform. When it comes to parking in tight spaces, the rear parking sensors come in handy. They are offered as standard in the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti supercar.
Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a 12-cylinder sports car, which means increased power at your disposal. The light-alloy technology that has been incorporated in the body means that despite the size of the supercar there is still a saving of around 60 kilograms when compared to the other fast cars of this segment. The technology also allows for increased structural rigidity which converts into greater safety.
The racing car boasts o the latest in traction control system. In fact this is the first time that such an advanced traction control system is making an appearance in a Ferrari. With 5748cc at your disposal the sports car leaves the competition way behind. At 7,250 rpm and 540 bhp you can accelerate to an exhilarating 100 km/h from standstill all in a matter of 4.2 seconds. Speed buffs can look forward to achieving a top speed of 315 km/h or 196 mph. Coupled with such a lively engine is the six-speed mechanical gear box. You have a choice of either manual or paddle shifts, the kind of which you find only in F-1 cares. The gear box incorporates the latest electro-hydraulic system. The system enables ultras-smooth and fast gear changes. This is yet another winning proposition among sports cars from the house of Ferrari.

bmw 540 shined

The 540iA is the luxury version of BMW's 5-Series and adds a monster V-8 engine.
The sport version then turns the 540iA into something even more insane. Luckily the 540 M-Sport looks like any other tame BMW, stealthily cloaking its brutality.
This site specifically is about the 540iA Sport. It's not about the ordinary non-sport 540i or six-cylinder, Diesel, station wagon or M5 models. I cover those here.
The price difference between the 540iA M-Sport and an ordinary 5-Series is the price of a small car. One could buy two nice 3-Series for the price of a 540iA M-Sport!
The non-sport 540 is perfectly swell car, just like a Mercedes E430 or E500. The non-sport 540 is nowhere near as much fun, zippy and crazy as the sport model as I explain below. The non-sport 540 is more suited to commuting and racking up miles on cross-country trips; the Sport for the drag strip, autocrossing, chirping the tires and having a hoot while focusing 100% of your concentration on driving. They're all quiet and comfortable; the gearing, suspension and everything makes the Sport far more responsive.

2011 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Hybrid

The first car to feature Ferrari’s new hybrid powertrain is the 612 Scaglietti replacement. The car that’s set to be revealed in 2011 Geneva Motor Show will be powered by 550 hp version of the same Enzo V12 you find in the 599 GTB which is coupled to a 100 hp electric motor. This system has 35 percent better fuel efficiency than an equally powerful petrol-powered V12.
As for the looks, this luxurious four-seater Ferrari will receive a major facelift (it will probably be named something other than 612 as well) and inherits features from other Ferrari models currently in produciton. The front-end will be inspired by the 458, while the back-end will kinda look like the 599.
Of course nothing’s about the styling is confirmed yet, but what really matters is that it’ll be fast! Being a hybrid for Ferrari doesn’t mean there’s any compromise on power and speed.

Ferrari 328

The Ferrari 328 GTB and GTS was the successor to the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS. While largely based on the 308 GTB and GTS respectively, small modifications were made to the body style and engine, including an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 L (3185 cc). 7,400 Ferrari 328s were produced by the time the model was replaced by the new 348 in 1989, bringing the total for the 308/328 generation to nearly 20,000. The 328 is considered by some Ferrari enthusiasts to be one of the most reliable Ferraris; unlike some models, most engine maintenance can be performed without lifting the engine from the vehicle
